Sophie comes from an experienced equestrian family & was lucky enough to learn much about riding, horse care & stable management from an early age.

Sophie a successful dressage rider & has represented Great Britain at World level. She is a British Horse Society Qualified Instructor & a British Dressage & British Riding Club Listed Judge.

Much of Sophie’s experience has been gained though handling & riding a variety of horses & ponies in many activities, including dressage, eventing, show jumping, hunting, showing & working hunters, as well as backing & producing young horses & ponies.

Sophie has worked in many areas of the equine industry, including top international competition yards & large riding schools, but since 2007 she has worked fulltime as a freelance riding instructor covering Bath & neighbouring areas.

Sophie believes in staying fresh & up-to-date with her training ideas & currently receives regular world class training on her own horses from Spencer Wilton, having previously set up & organised clinics at Half Moon Stud with world famous German dressage trainer Conrad Schumacher. She has also been taught & influenced by many top trainers, riders & judges, including:

Carl Hester, Sandy Phillips, Henk Van Bergen, Gerry Sinnot, Kenneth Clawson, John Lassetter, Jonquil Hemming & Trish Gardiner.

Horses have always been a major part of Sophie’s life & through her role as a trainer she wants to help all riders develop the partnership with their horse or pony & achieve realistic personal goals in a fun & enjoyable way.
