Sophie is a fully qualified & insured British Horse Society (BHS) Accredited Professional Coach.

Sophie passed the BHSAI qualification in 1993 & she now holds the BHSII certificate, passed in 1996 & the BHS SM certificate, passed in 1998. These qualifications are equivalent to the current highest level – level 3 – of the UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC Level 3).

Sophie holds a HSE First Aid at Work Certificate (valid until 16/12/2017) & has attended a Safeguarding & Protecting Children Workshop (valid until 21/8/2017).

Sophie believes in staying up to date with all modern coaching & riding techniques & regularly attends training days where she is able to share the knowledge of top international trainers.

As well as equine related qualifications, Sophie has a Masters Degree in Physics from the University of Bath & is also a qualified aerobics instructor, so can help the rider work on their own fitness, as well as that of their horse.

As a Judge

As a Rider

Sophie first qualified as a British Dressage Judge in 1999, she is now a List 1 judge (since 2017) & officiates affiliated British Dressage classes at all levels up to and including Grand Prix, plus all levels of British Eventing classes.

Sophie’s judging experience includes judging at Gatcombe Horse Trials, Badminton Grassroots Championships, BD’s first Home International dressage competition & numerous PetPlan BD Area Festivals.

Sophie was also a List 1 British Riding Club Style Jumping & Riding Test judge – both of these qualifications were passed in 2007, however she retired from these roles in 2015 to allow herself more time for riding & BD dressage judging.

In 2012 Sophie became a Group 2A British Dressage Rider, having gained her first BD points at FEI Grand Prix level. (Under the newly revised 2016 BD system, Sophie is now a Group 2 Rider).

Sophie has won BD classes up to & including Grand Prix & as a student won many international classes, including winning individual bronze at the World Student Equestrian Championships in 2000.

Sophie also passed the prestigious Pony Club ‘A’ Test in 1995.
